The Central Bank reveals the presence of two counterfeit copies of the (50) dinar bill.
Pulbished on:Tripoli, April 21, 2024 (LANA) - The Central Bank of Libya confirmed, in a visual clarification today, Sunday, what it had previously announced about the presence of a counterfeit 50-denomination currency circulating in the Libyan market.
The bank revealed in the video that there are four copies of the 50-denomination denomination currently circulating in the market, two of which are forged, showing the difference between the forged and the true copies.
The bank explained the precise technical aspects through which it is possible to distinguish between the fake currency and the real one with the naked eye, noting that the first copy, bearing the signature of the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Al-Siddiq Omar Al-Kabir, can be distinguished by the presence of the colored shape and its clear reflection when the currency is exposed to light.
The statement pointed out that it is possible to notice the vertical and horizontal serial numbers that take an increasing form in size in the original copy, and it is also possible to distinguish between them by comparing their texture, as you will find that the certified currency is more flexible than the counterfeit currency.
The bank indicated that the second correct copy in circulation bears the signature of former Deputy Governor Ali Al-Hibri, and was printed in Russia.
As for the third (fake) copy, it also bears Al-Habri’s signature, and is entitled Issue Two. It is a counterfeit currency, appears to be of high quality, and has different specifications and characteristics from the correct versions.
The fourth copy also bears Al-Habri’s signature, and is titled version number two. It is also forged, and can be discovered using a scanner or copied by photocopying, with a silver tape added to it, according to the video clip.
The bank explained that there is a type of counterfeit copy with poor specifications and can be easily distinguished, indicating that by examining the four versions under ultraviolet rays, the differences appear clear, as the approved currency contains an internal shape with red dots in the denomination issued by the English dinar company.
The serial numbers also appear illuminated in the correct currency, unlike the counterfeit currency of unknown origin. One can also rely on the color of the text on the title of the correct currency, as you will find it in black in clear contrast between it and the shape surrounding it, while this contrast does not exist in the counterfeit currency of unknown origin. It appears green.
Also, when using a laser pen, dense copper hairs appear clearly in the category signed by Al-Siddiq Al-Kabir, while these hairs appear less dense in the category bearing Al-Habri’s signature, while the hairs are not present in the forged copies of unknown origin.
When the currency is exposed to light, the silver security strip will appear intermittently in both denominations, whether printed in the United Kingdom or printed in Russia, while it is continuous in the counterfeit issues of unknown origin.
Finally, it is possible to differentiate between these four categories easily when using the currency detection pen, as the mark of the pen does not appear on the first and second types of currencies, while the mark remains clear on the counterfeit denominations of unknown origin.
