The media office of the Supreme Council of State said on its Facebook page today, Thursday, “The meeting during which the initiative of the UN envoy to Libya, Abdullah Batili, was discussed regarding his call for the five-party table to create a political consensus that contributes to resolving the Libyan crisis and reviving the democratic path, leading to the electoral process postponed since December 2021.” And discuss alternative proposals in the event that this initiative fails.
According to the same source, “Takala” stressed during the meeting that the Supreme Council of State confirms its firm commitment to the political agreements and their outcomes.
For its part, the US Embassy in Libya said: “The Special Envoy, Ambassador Norland, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Harris, and Chargé d'affaires at the Embassy, Brent, met on Wednesday with the President of the Supreme Council of State, Mohamed Takala.”
During the meeting, the American diplomatic delegation welcomed the participation of the Supreme Council of State in the efforts made by the UN envoy "Batili" to bring together institutional actors to reach a consensus on advancing the political process, according to the embassy.
