Tripoli, November 22, 2023 (Lana): The new British Ambassador to Libya, Martin Longden, expressed his happiness at his arrival in Tripoli as the new UK Ambassador.

“I’m very excited about my mission and the opportunity to meet Libyans throughout this wonderful country”, Longden said in a video on the Embassy’s Facebook page.

“Libya faces difficult political challenges, but it has great potential, especially in light of the appropriate support from the international community. I worked in Amman, Doha, and Beirut, and this is my first time in Libya,” he added.

Since Longden assumed his duties last October, succeeding former Ambassador Caroline Hurndall, Longden met the PM, Abdul-Hamid Al-Dbaiba, on November 8, and during the meeting, the UK Ambassador stressed his country’s support for Bathily’s plan on the Libyan file in all its aspects. He also met a number of Libyan officials and discussed the latest developments in Libya.
