The Electoral Commission organizes a workshop entitled (Towards an Inter-Agency Roadmap to Protect the Electoral Process from Digital Threats)

Tripoli, November 21, 2023 (LANA) - The High National Elections Commission, in cooperation with the International Institute for Democracy and Elections (IDEA), organized today, Tuesday, a workshop entitled “Towards an inter-agency roadmap to protect the electoral process from digital threats” in the presence of Commission Board Member “Abdul Hakim Al-Shaab”..The Commission's media office stated that the workshop aims to enhance digital protection in the electoral process, by developing a joint roadmap between bodies and institutions concerned with the field of media, and enabling the Commission and its partners to protect the citizen's voice and achieve transparent and professional final outcomes.The four-day workshop includes a number of topics, including the information environment report for elections at the global level, setting a baseline, monitoring and evaluation, the digital state and elections report, electoral digital risks, digital practices, and malicious actors targeting elections, in addition to initiatives. Inter-agency and design a set of activities to prevent digital threats.Commission Board Member Abdul Hakim Al-Shaab said that the workshop aims to confront the digital challenges facing the electoral process as a result of the development of technology... pointing to the advantages that technological development provides in facilitating electoral administration, while at the same time it also poses a threat due to false and misleading news and the spread of hate speech. .Al-Shaab stressed the importance of resisting and confronting these threats to ensure the transparency and professionalism of the electoral process.The workshop was attended by a group of officials from agencies and institutions specialized in the field of media monitoring, communications, informatics, and investigative journalism.
