Al-Dabaiba follows up on the Ministry of Marine Wealth’s plan to implement and develop fishing ports.
Pulbished on:Tripoli, November 13, 2023 (LANA) - The Prime Minister of the National Unity Government, Abdul Hamid Al-Dabaiba, followed up with the Minister of Marine Wealth, Adel Sultan, on the ministry’s plan regarding activating special contracts to implement and develop a number of marine fishing ports.
The Prime Minister's Media Office stated that the Minister of Marine Wealth presented, during his meeting today with the Prime Minister, the Ministry's plan to prepare designs and studies for the implementation of the five ports, Sousse, Tajoura, Garabulli and Zuwara as a first stage, which aims to complete the contracts that have been suspended since 2010, after restoring the financial balance of the contracts, and canceling some contracts concluded with companies that do not wish to return to work in Libya.
The meeting also discussed the regulations regulating bluefin tuna fishing activity in marine fishing areas issued by Cabinet Resolution No. 35 of 2023, and the necessity of reviewing it periodically, and amending any articles that do not help in regulating this activity.
The meeting discussed supporting fishermen and providing good conditions to support the Libyan private sector in the field of marine fishing in all its aspects.
Al-Dabaiba stressed the need to pay attention to marine wealth in all activities and programmes, support fishermen and activate aquatic farm projects that have been subjected to sabotage and neglect over the past years.
Al-Dabaiba also issued instructions on the necessity of adhering to the treatment of the observations contained in the Audit Bureau’s report for the year 2022, and implementing the publications issued by the Council of Ministers in particular.
