Al-Manfi expresses to Batili his gratitude for the briefing he presented to the Security Council at its last session.

Tripoli, November 13, 2023 (LANA) - The President of the Presidential Council, “Mohamed Al-Manfi,” expressed his gratitude to the Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Abdullah Batili, for the briefing he presented to the Security Council at its last session, and congratulated him on the Security Council’s confidence in extending the mission’s mandate under his leadership, appreciating his role in reaching consensus in the Security Council through the issuance of Resolution No. (2702), which reflects the international will to support stability in Libya through partnership with the Presidential Council.

This came during his meeting today, Monday in Tripoli, with the Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Abdullah Batili.

According to the media office of the Presidential Council, Batili expressed his appreciation for the Presidential Council and the steps it is taking to consolidate the foundations of stability and achieve national reconciliation, and for what he did in a number of important files, the most important of which is facilitating the work of the Military Committee (5+5), signing the declaration of intent regarding human rights. Human and humanitarian law, the Supreme Finance Committee, supporting the electoral process with national ownership, in partnership with the United Nations and the states parties to the Berlin process.

Batili praised the role of Al-Manfi in mobilizing international support to deal with the Derna disaster by calling on a number of countries and organizations to contribute to providing humanitarian and relief aid, as well as for the efforts it is making to deal with a number of regional crises in Sudan, Niger, Gaza and others.
