Tripoli, November 2, 2023 (LANA) - The Ministry of the Interior of the National Unity Government announced, on Wednesday evening, that the National Safety Authority was able to extinguish the fire resulting from the explosion of an ammunition depot in the city of Zliten.
The Ministry said, in a post on its Facebook page, that the explosion resulted in material damage to the homes located near the warehouse, and there were no injuries or human damage except for two cases of suffocation as a result of smoke inhalation, and they are in good health.
They added that the Zliten Security Directorate, the National Safety Authority, the Medical and Emergency Center, and the ambulance service moved to the place immediately after the explosion occurred, and the residents nearby were evacuated from the place, and they are safe.
The Ministry explained that specialized teams were recovering the remnants of the explosion, along with members of the Zliten Criminal Investigation Department and the rest of the security services.
She confirmed that the competent authorities in the Criminal Investigation Service will initiate investigations into the incident and its causes, calling on citizens, if they find waste, to contact the competent team, to recover it, at the following numbers -
