Tripoli, October 23, 2023 (LANA) - The head of the High Council of State, Mohamed Takala, called on all parties to overcome the remnants of conflicts and work to adopt a serious and national political settlement to complete the awaited Libyan elections.

This came in a video speech published by the Council’s Media Office on Facebook, during which it congratulated the Libyan people on the occasion of the twelfth anniversary of Libya’s Liberation Day, which falls on the 23rd of October every year.

“Takala” said in his speech, “The February 17 Revolution was a popular demand to consolidate the values of citizenship and freedom and build a state of institutions and law, not only to overthrow the regime, but to regain control, establish the foundations of security and stability, engage in development and democratic transition, and achieve prosperity and well-being, which is, unfortunately, what we stopped at.”

He added, “Today, we must have the courage and will to overcome differences and obstacles, turn away from narrow interests and calculations, and resolve to build a society of progress, democracy, security, and peace,” calling for building on the national cohesion that accompanied the disaster of torrents and floods that recently swept the eastern region, and preserving the gains to get the country out of the current political impasse.
