Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosts Libyan-German consultations.
Pulbished on:Tripoli 17 October 2023 (Lana) the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tripoli hosted yesterday the first joint meeting of Libyan-German consultations on strengthening cooperation relations between the two countries.
The communication office of the ministry said on its Facebook page that the meeting comes within the framework of ongoing discussion and consultation between the Government of National Unity and Libya’s development partners on enhancing frameworks of cooperation and following up on the projects identified by the government and relevant ministries in a manner consistent with the national interest.
The meeting also comes within the framework of activating items of memorandum of understanding signed between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the German Foundation for International Cooperation GIZ, affiliated with the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development BMZ, in 2022.
According to the same source, the meeting was chaired by the Director of the International Cooperation Department at the Ministry, Ashraf Al-Tayeb, and office officials from a number of ministries related to the international cooperation file were present, as well as on the German side, the German Ambassador to Libya, Michael Ohnmacht, and the Director of the North Africa Department at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development ( BMZ), Annette Kaiser and representatives of the (GIZ).
“The start of governmental consultations between Libya and Germany on development cooperation. Libya and Germany have cooperated in recent years in multiple areas and sectors, and governmental consultations have been organized to discuss ways to enhance and develop this cooperation.” Ambassador Ohnmacht confirmed on his Twitter.
