UNSMIL: 17 Libyan female lawyers participated in the 8th training workshop for Libyan female lawyers.

Tripoli 9 October 9, 2023, (Lana) the UNSMIL said that seventeen Libyan female lawyers participated in the 8th training workshop for Libyan female lawyers.

The mission stated that the workshop was organized by the UNSMIL, UN Women, and UN Development Program in cooperation with the Tripoli General Bar Association and the UN Team of Experts on Rule of Law.

“In the workshop last week, participants deepened their understanding of international human rights standards, criminal justice, and combating violence against women and explored challenges faced by women in the legal profession and how to overcome them,” UNSMIL added.

The mission confirmed that female lawyers play a vital role in advocating for women's rights and ensuring that women have access to justice, and it is critically important to empower and support their development in the rule of law, justice, and security systems.
