Ageela informs Guterres of the issuance of the laws for the election of the President of State and the National Assembly.

Benghazi, October 4, 2023 (LANA) - Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ageela Saleh, informed the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, of the House of Representatives’ approval of the laws for electing the head of state and the National Assembly.The official spokesman for the House of Representatives, Abdullah Belhaq, said that Ageela sent a letter to Guterres in which he affirmed the House of Representatives’ fulfillment of its obligations to hold presidential and parliamentary elections by unanimously approving the issuance of the law to elect the head of state and the law to elect the National Assembly, which was completed by a committee ( 6+6) Based on the thirteenth constitutional amendment and consensus between the House of Representatives and the state.According to Belhaq, in his speech, Ageela asked the Secretary-General of the United Nations to mobilize international support to form a unified government whose mission is to hold presidential and parliamentary elections in accordance with the text of Article 86 of the Law on Election of the Head of State and the text of Article 90 of the Law on Election of the National Assembly and to ensure the holding of free and fair elections in light of a unified government throughout the country.  (LANA)
