Tripoli, September 24, 2023 (Lana) The World Health Organization (WHO) Libya office announced that it had not monitored any epidemics in the country after the flood disaster that swept the eastern areas of the country.

This was stated by the organization’s representative in Libya, “Ahmed Zouiten,” in his weekly press conference at the UN office in Geneva via the internet regarding the situation in Libya.

Zouiten said that he was deeply affected by the scene left by the flood disaster, especially in Derna, noting that thousands of people lost their loved ones and their homes, stressing that it is impossible to describe the psychological shock that people are suffering as a result of the flood disaster.

“WHO has distributed emergency medicines, including treatment for cholera, and is working with local authorities to ensure access to health services,” Zouiten said.

He also stated that preparations and inspections are continuing against the outbreak of any possible epidemic, stressing that hundreds of cases of diarrhea have been reported in Derna, but this is not an unusual situation for a large city.
