Tripoli 17 September 2023 (Lana), the General Authority for Search and Identification of Missing Persons announced the recovery of nine unknown bodies inside the sea in Derna.
The authority affirmed that work is underway to recover, extract, and take samples.
The authority’s teams have been working since the first day of the disaster to recover bodies in Derna, which was struck by floods and torrents that left thousands of victims and destroyed hundreds of buildings and infrastructure.
The teams were divided into two groups, with the first team heading to the sea and still carrying out the extraction operations, while the other team was assigned to buildings, where a number of victims were being extracted.
