Batili: We are ready to support the Libyans in order to reach a comprehensive political settlement, including an agreement to form a unified government that leads to elections.
Pulbished on:Tripoli, September 7, 2023 (LANA) - UN envoy to Libya, Abdullah Batili, reaffirmed the United Nations’ permanent readiness to support Libyan leaders and effective national institutions at all levels to work together, through constructive dialogue, in order to reach a comprehensive political settlement, including the agreement. To form a unified government to lead the country to elections.
This came in a statement by Batili following his visit to the Warshafana region, which the UN mission published on its Facebook account.
The mission added that during his visit to the city of Al-Aziziya, Batelli met with a wide range of citizens from all parts of Warshafana, including members of the House of Representatives and the Supreme Council of State, academics, representatives of women, youth and civil society, notables and sheikhs, trade unionists and security officials.
Batili added in his statement that the attendees expressed their dissatisfaction with the continued marginalization and exclusion of their region, and called for a comprehensive and true national reconciliation, and for their involvement in the political process, in decision-making, and in the fair distribution of national wealth. They also expressed their aspirations for a safe, united and harmonious Libya, according to the mission.
