Al-Hawaij and his Tunisian counterpart, announce the launch of the Transit Trade Corridor Initiative to Africa.
Pulbished on:Tunisia, August 11, 2023 (LANA) - The Minister of Economy and Trade of the Government of National Unity, Muhammad Al-Hawij, and his Tunisian counterpart, Kulthum bin Rajab, announced during their meeting in Tunis on Thursday the launch of the African Trade Corridor initiative between Tunisia and Libya towards sub-Saharan African countries.
The Ministry of Economy and Trade stated that this step came as a result of the joint efforts between the two countries to expand the horizons of cooperation and trade.
She added that this meeting also focused on examining the procedural and logistical measures related to the conduct of commercial routes through the Ras-Jedir crossing, and discussing ways that contribute to facilitating the movement of goods and trade between the two countries and reducing the obstacles they face.
During the meeting, it was decided, according to the ministry, to form a rapid response team to address the obstacles that occur at the Ras-Jedir crossing, pointing out that this measure comes within the framework of the two governments' commitment to strengthening economic cooperation and facilitating cross-border trade movement.
