US Embassy: The presence of mercenaries and foreign fighters in Libya destabilizes regional stability

Tripoli, February 8, 2023 (LANA) - Today, Wednesday, the US Embassy in Libya welcomed the results of the meetings of the Joint Military Committee (5 + 5), which concluded its work today in Cairo.

The embassy confirmed, in a tweet on Twitter, that it supports the call of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Mission in Libya, Abdullah Batili, regarding the withdrawal of foreign fighters and mercenaries from Libya.

The US Embassy in Libya considered that the presence of mercenaries and foreign fighters on Libyan territory destabilizes, undermines security and fuels regional instability.

  Today, Wednesday, in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, the meetings of the Joint Military Committee (5 + 5) were concluded under the auspices of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, "Abdullah Batili."

The committee adopted an integrated mechanism for joint coordination regarding the collection and exchange of data on mercenaries and foreign fighters, in preparation for their withdrawal from Libyan territory, according to a statement issued by the UN mission in Libya.
