Starting procedures for opening a sea line between Libya and Tunisia.
Pulbished on:Tripoli 19 December 2022 (Lana) Tunisian Ministry of Transport announced signing of minutes of a meeting about the procedures for opening a sea line between Tunisia and Libya, as a continuation of the agreement between the two countries last month.
The agreement was signed by Tunisian Minister of Transport, Rabih Al Majidi, and by the Tunisian Minister of Transportation, Mohamed Salem Chahoubi, according to the SMS page of Tunisian Transportation Ministry.
Al-Majidi confirmed their readiness to remove all obstacles that prevent completion of the maritime link between the two countries at any of the Tunisian ports.
Al-Majidi explained that the joint interconnection should enable the proposed port to accelerate the implementation of this interconnection on an ongoing basis, and that the required logistics, standards and capacity should be available, and that it achieve the expected economic feasibility.
Al-Majidi said that the sea line will diversify the modes of transit for travelers and economic actors on both sides, stressing the importance of the services that this line will provide at the level of transporting people and goods.
“The preparation of the sea line will be simultaneously with the preparation of Ras Ajdir crossing, in addition to the implementation of investments related to railway link, specifically Maghreb line,” he added.
