The Libyan Sensing Center reveals that Libya has been exposed to a drought in recent years and calls for the declaration of an emergency.
Pulbished on:Tripoli, 21August 2022 (Lana) The Libyan Center for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences has revealed that Libya has been exposed to a drought during the last 3 years, calling for the declaration of a state of emergency to tackle the problem as soon as possible.
In a statement posted to its SMS page the center said that ‘the recommendations of the National Committee to Combat Desertification have revealed that drought hit the country over the last three years, and a state of emergency to reduce the drought is supposed to be imposed. The statement added that the temperature of the Mediterranean Sea increased five degrees Celsius during the summer season affected by the high heat, and Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia are all witnessing fires in different areas of forests and nature reserves, noting that the use of remote sensing techniques is important to monitor the land and climatic factors in order to take timely action and action plan.
