The House of Representatives Fact-Finding Committee holds meeting with the Dutch Ambassador to Libya.

Benghazi, 6 August 2022 (Lana) The House of Representatives Fact-Finding Committee on Violations of International Humanitarian Law and International Human Rights Law, chaired by Youssef Al-Aqouri, and membership of Director of the Legal Affairs Department of the House of Representatives Ashraf Al-Mabrouk Al-Doss, Director of the Office of Parliamentary Policy Support and Research Abdul Wahid Al-Lafi, and the Representative of the House of Representatives to the International Criminal Court Salem Al-Ojali held a meeting with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Libya Dolf Hogewoning , and his deputy, Vivian Hauchen.

The meeting dealt with the human rights file in Libya, and related files, including the reports issued by the independent fact-finding mission established by the resolution of the United Nations Human Rights Council. The Chairman of the Committee, Youssef Al-Aqouri, stressed the independence of the Committee and the need to continue its work, to collect facts about suspected violations of international humanitarian law or international human rights law, and stressed the importance of cooperation with the Dutch side in the field of parliamentary investigations.

The Committee stressed the need to distinguish between purely criminal facts, which do not amount to international crimes, and violations of international humanitarian law and international human rights law.

For his part, the Dutch Ambassador praised the work of the committee and supported the push for transitional justice, national reconciliation and cooperation in this regard, stressing his country's support for efforts to unify institutions in the State of Libya, and the role of the House of Representatives in this regard, and highlighted relations between the two countries, expressing his pleasure to visit the city of Benghazi, and his first visit to the house of representatives in the city.
