Anadolu Agency: Speaker of the House of Representatives and Speaker of the Turkish Parliament discuss Libyan-Turkish relations in Ankara.

   Ankara, 2 Aug 2022 (Lana) Turkish Parliament Speaker Mustafa Şentop on Tuesday welcomed Speaker of Libyan Parliament Ageela Saleh who began an official visit to Turkey at the invitation of his Turkish counterpart.

 According to the official Turkish News Agency Anadolu Agency, Ageela and Sentop chaired a meeting of the delegations of the two countries, after their bilateral meeting at the Turkish parliament headquarters in Ankara.

The Agency quoted the speaker of the Turkish parliament as saying during the meeting that relations between Turkey and Libya go back to ancient times, pointing out that strengthening of relations between the parliaments of the two countries will have a positive impact on other fields and sectors.

Sentop pointed out that the establishment of the Turkish-Libyan Friendship Group in the Turkish parliament last year was aimed at developing relations with Libya, pointing out that the preservation of unity of Libyan territory is of great importance to Turkey.

According to The Turkish News Agency, Saleh noted during the meeting that there were historical ties between the Turkish and Libyan peoples, and that all channels of dialogue should be left open for stability and peace in Libya.

Ageela noted that priority of the new government formed in Libya and gained confidence of the House of Representatives, is to ensure that parliamentary and presidential elections are held in the country, stressing the importance of Turkey's support for efforts to bring peace and stability to Libya.
