Tripoli, 28 July 2022 (Lana) The Parliament-appointed Head of the Libyan Government Fathi Pashagha has described his recent talks with Italian and French officials as positive, during which he stressed the commitment to work together to strengthen relations and achieve common interests.

"Libya is the key to security in the Mediterranean and can be a sustainable un-politicized source of energy for Europe, as well as the important role it can play in the fight against terrorism and illegal immigration," Pashagha wrote on his Twitter account.

Pashagha praised the "public position of the two countries in support of stability and security in our country, and calling for holding of presidential and legislative elections", expressing appreciation for their "recognition that the unified Libyan government is a prerequisite for the success of the elections."

He stressed that the highest priority for achieving peace and stability in Libya is to hold presidential and parliamentary elections as soon as possible, as stipulated in the roadmap for recovery which he said he proposed.

Over the past two days, Pashagha has held consultations with the Italian Foreign Ministry's special envoy to Libya, Nicolas Orlando, and the French President's Special Envoy to Libya, Paul Soler that focused on the latest developments in the political situation in Libya.
