GNU Interior Minister unveils proposal to restructure border crossings.

 Tripoli, 20 July 2022 (Lana) GNU Interior Minister Khaled Mazen unveiled a proposal at a Cabinet meeting to restructure border crossings , confirming end of congestion in front of the Ras Ajdir border crossing.

Mazen explained in a speech at the 10th regular cabinet meeting that the proposal involves appointment of one director for each land border crossing belonging to the Ministry of Interior, with the director of the crossing to coordinate between the authorities and administratively supervise the workers and follow up, in addition to adopting the mechanism of rotation between port workers and not staying in one port for a long time.

 Security experts from the Tunisian and Libyan sides discussed the problem of congestion at the Ras Jadir border crossing," the interior minister said, adding that the Tunisian side complained of the narrowness of the crossing and its lack of technical equipment.

He said the Libyan and Tunisian sides had agreed to set deadlines for the implementation of the joint customs port and to work together to facilitate movement and inspection of travelers altogether.

 The Interior Minister said there was coordination with Tunisian side to deal with smuggling between the two countries, stressing that the latest congestion in front of the Ras Ajdir crossing had ended after the agreed measures were implemented.
