Al Mnefi: Libya has made all arrangements for return of the Executive Secretariat of the Arab Maghreb Union to work from Tripoli.

 Lusaka, 17 July 2022 (Lana) President of the Presidential Council Mohamed Al Mnefi, President of the Arab Maghreb Union ‘AMU’ and said the African continent faces major challenges, which continue to hamper the continent's progress and achieve significant progress in all areas.

In a speech to the third mid-term coordination meeting between the African Union, the African Union Commission, regional economic groups and regional mechanisms in Lusaka, Al-Mnefi called for sound action to reach successful stages in continental integration based on the sharing of financial, technical, economic and logistical burdens between the African Union, regional economic groups and regional mechanisms, to enable the continent to meet the aspirations of African peoples.

He called for strengthening the international standing of the African continent in light of the challenges the world is going through as a result of the current situation and the uncertainty it has caused in securing commodities, to access energy, which calls on us to find a forward-looking view based on integration and the promotion of independence and continental sufficiency.

  In his speech, Al Mnefi stressed that the AMU countries are still determined to move forward, both through bilateral programs and through the agreements signed to make further progress towards regional integration, thereby strengthening the region's role in the continental development process.

"Libya has made all arrangements for the return of the executive secretariat to work from Tripoli as soon as possible, and will use all resources to overcome all the challenges that stand in the way of the tasks assigned to the secretariat," he said, referring to the integration report on the impact of the situation in Libya on the work of the Sahel-Sahara community secretariat, expressing hope that this paragraph of the report will be amended.
