The meeting focused on the constitutional process talks in Cairo and efforts to reach consensus on amending the controversial points in the draft constitution, according to the spokesman of the House of Representatives Abdullah Bleiheg.
Bleiheg said the Speaker of the House of Representatives confirmed his support for the constitutional process and the consensus between the House of Representatives and the High Council of State to reach national elections as soon as possible. The meeting also discussed the latest developments in the country.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives said that the Libyan government headed by "Fathi Pashagha" is the legitimate government emanating from the House of Representatives, stressing that he called for a formal session of the House of Representatives next Tuesday in the city of Sirte in support of the work of the government from Sirte so that it can perform its tasks and work freely without any pressure.
During the meeting with the UN Secretary-General's adviser, the Speaker was also briefed on a series of meetings held in the recent period, including meetings of the International Security Working Group on Libya, which included discussions with the Military Commission (5+5) and representatives of the international community who expressed support for completing the constitutional path to reach elections as soon as possible.
