National Committee for Human Rights in Libya participates in 9th preparatory meeting for Biological Weapons Convention and its danger to civilians.
Pulbished on:Tripoli, 12 April, 2022 (Lana) - The head of the National Human Rights Committee in Libya, Ahmed Hamza, participated, Monday, via Zoom platform, in the 9th preparatory meeting for the Biological Weapons Convention and its danger to civilians.
The meeting, organized by the Global Alliance to Control the Spread of Arms, discussed the role of civil society and its importance in activating the articles and provisions of the Biological Weapons Convention and the protection of civilians in conflict areas.
A number of speakers with experience in the field of biological weapons and the strengthening of the role of civil society to protect civilians in areas of tension and conflict participated in the meeting. This meeting comes as part of the activities and events of the Global Alliance to Control the Spread of Arms throughout the month of April, where the coalition participated in intervention by the "Maat" Foundation for Human Rights as head of the technical secretariat of the coalition in the series of preparatory meetings for the 9th conference of the Biological Weapons Convention at the United Nations.
The coalition also launched an electronic awareness campaign about biological weapons and their dangers to the lives of civilians in areas of conflict and tension.
