GNU Minister of Economy and Trade: spatial development and economic diversification can be achieved through activating investment sectors and projects.

  Tripoli, 31 January 2022 (Lana) GNU Minister of Economy and Trade Mohammed Al-Hweij said that achieving spatial development and economic diversification comes through activation of investment sectors and projects in partnership with the domestic and foreign private sector.

This came during an extended meeting Al Hweij held on Monday with the undersecretaries of the Ministry’s Undersecretaries for trade affairs and free zones and heads and directors of subsidiaries and a number of directors of departments and heads of councils and general managers of insurance companies and commercial banks, to discuss the activation of development projects, investment sectors, small and medium enterprises and their financing mechanism.

Al Hweij stressed that the mechanism for developing investment and project sectors comes through the provision of financial support through banking and non-banking financing instruments in accordance with a common map between competent institutions.

The participants reviewed the plan of the General Authority for investment promotion and privatization affairs of the Ministry in activating the investment sector and implementing the target investment map in all regions.

 They also tackled a number of problems and obstacles facing the investment sector and the creation of financing tools that contribute to the development of the projects sector and ways to address them in order to support the Government of National Unity in implementing the development plan and moving the national economy forward.
