GNU Ministry of Education announces suspension of schools in Greater Tripoli for two weeks from Sunday.
Pulbished on:Tripoli, 29 January 2022 (Lana) The Ministry of Education and the National Center for Disease Control ‘NCDC’ have agreed to suspend schools in Greater Tripoli for two weeks from Sunday, with the suspension period to be deducted from this year's mid-term holiday. The decision was taken at a meeting the GNU Minister of Education together with the Under-Secretary of State for Educational Affairs and the Under-Secretary of State for Directorates Affairs held with the Director of the National Center for Disease Control NCDC Dr. Haidar Al-Sayeh and the Head of the Scientific Advisory Committee.
Al Sayeh told the meeting that the decision to suspend schools for two weeks was due to the worsening epidemiological situation in the major municipalities of Tripoli.
The Minister of Education, the Undersecretary of The Ministry for Educational Affairs and the Undersecretary for Directorates affairs stressed that the period of suspension would be deducted from the midterm holiday, and should be calculated, explaining that the study in the rest of the education directorates continues provided that the applicable health protocol is adhered to.
The Ministry of Education and the National Centre for Disease Control agreed to hold further meetings in the coming period to assess the epidemiological situation.
