Pulbished on:Tobruk, 24 January 2022 (Lana) The chairman of the roadmap committee reviewed a report prepared by the committee before the House of Representatives, which resumed its sessions Monday at the Parliament headquarters in Tobruk, headed by Speaker Ageela Saleh. The chairman of the committee confirmed that the committee held a series of meetings with the political parties concerned with the political process, to determine the reasons for postponing the elections. The meetings included with the head of the civil registry whom I demanded to speed up the start project, which promotes proper documentation and met with many politicians regarding elections, the constitutional process and the legal status of the state.
The Committee had met with the Head of the Civil Status Department, who had submitted his report to the Committee on the difficulties facing the Civil Status Service and the issue of fraud, and that registration had occurred in the branches of the Department, which had led to the inclusion of large numbers of foreigners in the records in comparison with the paper system and the digital system, he said.
The chairman of the committee confirmed that he met with the president of the High National Election Commission, who said that the commission needed 240 days from the date of election law coming into force, and met with the Council of State several times, and discussed several topics, including the inability of the constitution drafting body to meet, and the roadmap committee seeks to form a committee of jurists and constitution as an alternative to this committee.
The chairman of the roadmap committee said that we are facing a legal entitlement of the government, it was granted confidence with 134 deputies, but article 1 says give the government of national unity headed by Abdul Hamid Al Dbeiba confidence and Article II explicitly says that the government mandate expires on 24 December 2021, i.e. whoever gave it confidence has set her term of office - and that her mandate is over.
