Head of Government Asserts That Government will not Tolerate Cutting off Water, Electricity and Fuel.
Pulbished on:Tripoli, 20 August 2021(Lana) The Head of the Government of National Unity Abdul Hamid Al Dbeiba said ‘the Government will not tolerate acts of subversion of facilities that are connected with the livelihood of the citizens, describing perpetrators as criminals, in accordance with religion and the law, and must be prosecuted as such.
This came in response to the cut off of water supply from Man-made River to Tripoli and some cities in the western region, following threats by a group of outlaw to blow up the pumping station in Al Shweiref.
The Head of the Government stressed, at a meeting with the Minister of Water Resources Tariq Bufleiga, his rejection of blaming such despicable action on the Al Magareha Tribe, or any other region because they do not condone such irresponsible acts.
‘I am in contact with the elders and notables of the Al Magareha Tribe, who said they had nothing to do with this, and do not condone such acts, which undermine the dignity of the Libyans, and do not conform with the morals and traditions of the Libyan people, Al Dbeiba said.
As for the justification for cutting off the water supply for 3 million people in the capital and adjacent areas, Al Dbeiba said ‘we live in a state with a law and order, and you cannot link legal cases with the livelihood and security of the people.
Al Dbeiba said as part of following up with the Ministry of Water Resources on water problem in Libya, the problem has, for a long time, not been resolved, except through the Man-made River network, and no alternatives have been considered to diversify the water resources, and there should be solutions to the problem of water, to ensure that no shortage of supply in the coming years.
