Head of Libyan Unity Government Addresses Berlin 2 Conference.

Tripoli, 23 June 2021(Lana) The Head of the Government of National Unity Abdul Hamid Al Dbeiba addressed the Berlin Conference on Libya which kicked off in the German capital on Wednesday, to discuss the Libyan political crisis, stabilize the ceasefire and assist the country reach the elections on Dec 24, 2021.

  Leaders of 15 countries and 4 international organisations, including the UN, NATO, the African Union and the League of Arab States, are taking part in the conference hosted by the German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The Head of the Government of National Unity Abdul Hamid Al Dbeiba addressed the opening session of the conference, starting by paying tribute to the German Chancellor for hosting this event, and urging the leaders to assist the Libyan Government to pave the way for conducting the presidential and parliamentary elections on Dec. 24.

‘We have succeeded thanks to your positive support, first by Ghasan Salama and then Stephanie Williams, and the constructive relationship which we now hope to continue with Jan Kupis, to ensure that no return to war, no division of the country and unifying of the country and shoring up divided state institutions as well as bringing an end to economic piddling and oil closure, Al Dbeiba said.

He called on the international community to live up to their commitments to assist Libya along to the way to presidential and parliamentary elections.
