In a speech addressed to the Libyan people: The President of the Presidency Council pledges to make every effort to close the painful pages of the past.
Pulbished on:Tripoli, March 13, 2021 (LANA) – Friday night, President of the Presidency Council, Dr. Muhammad Al-Mnifi, addressed a speech to the Libyan people, his first since assuming his duties as president of the Council, in which he addressed several issues and topics, including the council’s work program, national reconciliation and security, provision of services and urgent requirements for citizens, foremost of which is confronting the pandemic Corona, electricity and the provision of cash in addition to relations with friendly and brotherly countries and regional and international partners.
At the outset of his speech, the President of the Presidency Council congratulated the Libyan people for granting the House of Representatives confidence in the national unity government after a long division.
He also saluted the Libyans for all the sacrifices they made during the past years, despite the hard life, out of their belief in the necessity of building the state and preserving its national unity, looking forward to a better tomorrow despite all the difficulties facing the homeland.
In his speech, "Mnifi" pledged to make every effort to turn the painful pages of the past and start the peace process to build a democratic state in which rights and freedoms are preserved and the dignity of the citizen is preserved and the law is superior to anything else.
The council chairman affirmed that he would work to consolidate and sustain peace and make room for support for the path of the 5 + 5 committee to unify the military institution on professional foundations and purely national creed.
He added that the members of the Presidential Council will spare no effort in working with the Government of National Unity to create the appropriate conditions in order for it to quickly and immediately proceed in dealing with urgent files, such as confronting the Corona virus and the electricity crisis and providing financial liquidity to citizens. He pointed to the continuation of efforts exerted to achieve security throughout the homeland.
Al-Mnifi stressed that the greatest effort will be focused on establishing the national reconciliation process by building its structures and providing its moral and material requirements and conditions by consolidating the values of forgiveness, and tolerance and upholding the supreme national interest in order to achieve peaceful coexistence without violating the principle of impunity for everyone who has committed a crime on the right of the Libyan people.
In his speech, the President of the Presidency Council called on the international community to fulfill its obligations towards the Libyan people by implementing and adhering to the Security Council resolutions, such as putting an end to negative external interference, prohibiting the supply of weapons, preserving frozen Libyan funds and assets, in addition to providing technical support required by the stage.
"We look forward to building close foreign relations based on partnership and mutual interests, respect for sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs," he said, stressing his endeavor with regional and international partners to coordinate at the highest levels on issues that will pose a threat to the security and stability of the country.
He stressed that all these efforts that will be made at all levels come in order to achieve the ultimate goal, which is, to hold free, transparent and fair elections on the anniversary of the upcoming glorious independence day, to consolidate the principle of peaceful transfer of power and to reinforce the value of mandatory legal texts to ensure the success of the democratic process in order to overcome the crisis the country is going through.
