The United Nations, major powers, Arab League and Organization of Islamic Cooperation welcome new executive authority in Libya.
Pulbished on:Tripoli, 6 February, 2021 (Lana) - The United Nations, Britain, France, Italy, Germany, Russia, Qatar, Turkey, Bahrain, Jordan, the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation have welcomed the success of the voting process carried out by the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum in Geneva that led to the selection of the new executive authority in Libya, expressing their aspiration To work with it.
The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, welcomed the selection of the members of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum, a unified executive authority, saying, "Libya is moving in the right direction." The Organization of Islamic Cooperation welcomed the results of the vote to form a unified executive authority in Libya and expressed hope that its formation would lead to security, stability and development in the country. France, for its part, confirmed its readiness to support the unified Libyan executive authority in its mission.
Saudi Arabia welcomed the new executive authority in Libya, expressing hope that this achievement will preserve the unity and sovereignty of Libya and achieve security, stability and development in it.
Egypt welcomed the results of the vote to choose the executive authority in Libya, calling on all international and regional parties to support this path in a way that would contribute to achieving stability in Libya.
The Arab League praised the results of the voting process conducted by the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum in Geneva, and called for the unification of international and regional positions behind the settlement efforts sponsored by the United Nations.
The US ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, extended warm congratulations to all Libyans for choosing the new executive authority, saying, "There is more interaction coming from Washington." The governments of America, France, Germany, Italy and Britain welcomed the selection of the Political Dialogue Forum for a unified government that will lead the country to national elections on December 24, 2021.
In a joint statement, the five countries demanded that the next government be comprehensive, allow the representation of all Libyans, and embark on a programme of targeted reconciliation and meet the needs of citizens and organize elections on time. Qatar considered that the election of representatives of the executive authority in Libya represents a milestone in the march of the Libyan people.
Bahrain also welcomed the selection of the executive authority in Libya, stressing that it would achieve and establish security and stability throughout the country.
Jordan also welcomed the formation of the executive authority in Libya and expressed its wishes to the authority for success in managing the next stage and holding elections on time.
