Morocco Joins African Contact Group on Libya.
Pulbished on:Rabat, 2 February 2021(Lana) Morocco has joined AU Contact Group on Libya, just before the anticipated summit meeting the group will hold at heads of state and government level next week.
Diplomatic sources said President of Congo Saso Nguisou who heads the AU High Level Committee on Libya Monday told the AU Peace and Security Council of the Committee’s decision to integrate Morocco into the Contact Group.
The AU Contact Group on Libya was established in Addis Ababa in February 2020 , it includes Presidents of Egypt, Chad, Congo, South Africa, Algeria, and the Chairperson of the African Commission Musa Fiki. It aims to coordinate international effort to reach a lasting solution to the crisis in Libya, away from foreign interventions.
Morocco recently hosted several meetings in Buzniqa to settle the Libyan crisis, which led to an agreement on holders of higher state posts.
