Italian and American defense ministers discuss situation in Libya.

Tripoli, 31 January, 2021 (Lana) - Italian Defense Minister Lorenzo Guerini discussed with the new US Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, in a phone call, the main issues of international security as well as Libya and tensions in the Mediterranean.  

The "La Repubblica" reported that the two sides discussed the White House's readiness to conduct reviews of the decisions taken by the former President Donald Trump in foreign policy, regarding the situation in Libya.

On the American interest in the Libyan file; The newspaper indicated that the two sides agreed that there are some indications that the new US president, Joe Biden is about to change his administration's stance regarding the Libyan file on foreign interference, and the emphasis on facilitating dialogue between the Libyans and full support for the work of the United Nations.
