Pulbished on:
Tripoli, 14 January 2021(Lana) Libyan UN Representative Taher Al
Suni said there was a need to put an end to the losses to Libyan
frozen assets, calling for this issue not to be politicized because
it is related to preserving of wealth of future Libyan generations.
In an intervention at a virtual meeting between the UN Sanctions
Committee and the Libyan Investment Corporation, Al Suni said the
reason behind freezing Libyan assets in 2011 was to save Libyan
assets during the transitional period, and we do not demand a lift of
the freezing in the current division but to save them from constant
erosion as a result of exploitation by some countries.
He called for regular meetings between the Committee, the
Corporation and Libyan UN Mission so that all parties bear their
responsibilities especially those trying to exploit the current
situation to plunder the assets.
