UN Security Council Appoints New UN Envoy to Libya.

New York, 16 December 2020(Lana) The UN Security Council agreed on Tuesday to appoint Nikolay Mladenov as the new UN Special Envoy to Libya, Diplomat said. Mladenov will succeed Ghasan Salama who resigned in March due to health reasons. UN Security Council members stressed the need to put in place reliable and effective mechanism to monitor the ceasefire under Libyan leadership, saying they looked forward to a comprehensive report from the Secretary General on effective ceasefire monitoring proposals under UN auspices. The Council members renewed their call for withdrawal of all foreign fighters and mercenaries from Libya. =Lana=
