Tripoli, 2 December 2020 (Lana) The Joint Presidency Committee
of the Working Team on Economic Affairs in Libya Calls on the Board
of Central Bank of Libya to convene a meeting as soon as possible to
unify the rate of exchange, and address the deteriorating economic
situation.
The announcement was made following the committee's meeting
Tuesday in the presence of Libyan economic experts and participation
of the deputy Special Representative to the UN Secretary General to
Libya, Stephaney Williams and ambassador of the USA, EU, and Egypt to
Libya.
The statement, posted on UNSMIL website, stressed the need 'to
reach a new consensual arrangement that places Libya on the right
path towards political stability, economic revival and comprehensive
prosperity'.
According to the statement, the committee support the National
Oil Corporation in its response to the calls of all Libyans to freeze
the oil revenues as an exceptional and provisional measure under
non-political administration, until negotiations among Libyan parties
on more sustainable and durable economic arrangements whether on
provisional and temporary bases or with the context of the long term
Libyan Political Dialogue Forum.
