Tripoli, 11 November 2020(Lana) US Embassy in Libya has expressed
concern over the killing of Lawyer and Human Rights Activist Hanan Al
Bar'asi in Benghazi on Tuesday, saying there should be no excuse for
stifling the voices of peaceful activists.
'We repeat our strong commitment to allowing all Libyans,
including women and the youth, to express their views regarding the
future of their country, the Embassy said in a statement posted to
its SMS page.
'As Libyans of all political spectrum meet in Tunis, this
despicable crime underscored the importance of putting in place a
government that is responsible before the people of Libya, instead of
allowing corruption and abusive powers to dictate it', the statement
said.
It called on Libyan authorities to open an enquiry into this
murder crime and bring the culprits to justice.
