Al Serraj Meets Italian Defense Minister.

Tripoli, 5 August 2020(Lana) The Head of the Government of
National Accord Fayez Al Serraj on Wednesday met Italian Defense
Minister Lorenzo Guerini, who in Tripoli on visit to Libya, as part
of consultation and exchange of viewpoints between the two countries.
According the Council's Communication Office the meeting dwelt on
developments in Libya, and the exchange between the two countries.
The meeting was attended by Italian senior defence officials
accompanying the Minister, and on the Libyan side by Ahmed Mi'tig
Deputy President of the Presidency Council, the Foreign Minister
Mohamed Siala and Defence Ministry Undersecretary Salahuddin Al
Namroush.
There was an emphasis on a return to the political track in
accordance with UN Security council's resolutions, and the Berlin
Conference results to achieve a lasting ceasefire.
Al Serraj stressed that 'any ceasefire agreement should ensure
that the aggressor party does not remain in any position allowing
them to launch a new aggression.'
The two sides discussed security and military cooperation,
including removal of mines and explosive devices, and training of
Libyan cadets at Italian military academies.
They also discussed return of Italian companies to Libya, and
agreed to the need for oil production to be resumed under the
supervision of the Libyan National Oil Company.
