Rome, 23.06.2020 - Lana - German Foreign Minister Haikou Maas called
for the need to upgrade the capabilities of the European IRINI
process to monitor the arms embargo to Libya imposed by the United
Nations.
"Mass" said during a joint press conference with his Italian
counterpart, "Luigi de Mayo", there are many violations of the arms
embargo, and to enforce this ban we need this process in its most
effective form.
The German Minister described the IRINI process, which he visited its
headquarters earlier Monday in the company of his host "De Mayo" as a
strong and decisive indication of the role the European Union can
play in the region.
He added, that Europe is ready to assume responsibilities even in
neighboring countries, and this visit helped to understand what we
have to do for this process and where it can be strengthened, as it
is crucial to the political process and to achieving stability in
Libya.
