Thursday, renewed the call for a humanitarian truce in Libya, after
the Presidential Council welcomed the international call made by
eight countries to stop the fighting for humanitarian purposes.
The US embassy said, in a post through its official account on the
social networking site "Facebook", it is time for all parties to
adopt a truce to fight the epidemic and to avoid a dangerous
escalation in the fighting.
At dawn on Thursday, the Presidential Council responded to the calls
of several countries and organizations for the humanitarian cessation
of hostilities to address the "Corona" epidemic by launching three
calls to the international community.
In an official statement, the council expressed its full
appreciation to the countries and organizations that have shown
interest and eagerness to spare the country more tragedies, calling
on the international community to support its efforts in dealing with
this pandemic.
The country has not recorded any confirmed cases of the virus, which
the World Health Organization has designated as "global pandemic,"
according to assurances from the National Center for Diseases.
But as intermittent violations of the armistice continued in Libya,
a statement issued by eight countries and the European Union, on
Tuesday, urged all Libyan parties to declare an immediate and
humanitarian cessation of hostilities, in order to confront the
virus, and the UN mission joined this call by urging the parties to
