Khartoum, 29 January 2020(Lana) Dozens of Sudanese demonstrated
in front of the Foreign Ministry in Khartoum in protest against what
they termed luring by a UAE company of their sons, to work as guards
in the UAE then sending them to fight in Libya and Yemen.
Women and men gathered at the main entrance of the Foreign
Ministry with placards reading 'get back our sons', 'our sons are not
for sale.'
French news agency quoted protesters as saying 'their family
members were granted entry visas to the UAE by a travel agent, after
an ad in the local press demanding Sudanese men to work as guardship
elements in the UAE company 'Black Shield', but said they lost
contact with the relatives after leaving Sudan, to discover on the
Internet that they have been sent to Libya and Yemen.
The Sudanese News Agency said in a statement it was in contact
with the Government in Abu Dhabi to verify the various aspects of
this matter.'
The Ministry said the information given by the families have
reaffirmed that there was no commitment to the contract provisions in
terms of nature of recruitment and place of work, which eventually
led to transferring the afore-said citizens to work in oil fields in
Libya.
