A German foreign minister warns that Libya will become the scene of a proxy war.

Brussels, 11.01.2020 - Lana- German Foreign Minister 'Heiko Maas'
called for an effective truce in Libya and a speedy start to a
political process, warning of Libya's shift to a second Syria.
The German news agency quoted, "Maas" as saying in statements made
in Brussels after his meeting with the President of the Presidential
Council, "Fayez Al-Sarraj": "Libya cannot turn into a second Syria
... So we need now to start quickly a political process and to agree
on an effective truce''.
He explained that the situation in Libya, especially around the
capital, Tripoli, has become more difficult, stressing that he
intends to prevent Libya from becoming the scene of a proxy war.
The German Foreign Minister added that the President of the
Presidential Council, "Fayez Al-Sarraj", expressed this support
during the talks for the Berlin process, especially the ceasefire,
the arms embargo and the political process under the leadership of
the United Nations.
