Addis Ababa, 9 January 2020(Lana) The AU Peace and Security
Council said Tuesday that a summit would be held to discuss the
situation in Libya and the Sahel region in early February.
The AU Peace and Security Commissioner Ismail Sherqi said in
press statements 'the Council is to meet on the eve of the summit due
on Feb 8 and 9 in Addis Ababa, saying the meeting would be devoted to
the crisis in Libya and the arms proliferation in the Shale region as
a result of the aggravating security situation there', according to
the Kuwaiti news agency.
'After the successes it made recently in the Central African
Republic, the AU wants to get back the Libyan file, to show its
commitment to a peaceful solution in this country', Sherqi said.
President Denis Sassou Inguisso who chaired the AU high-ranking
committee on Libya called for Africa not to be marginalized in
respect to a settlement to the crisis in Libya, saying any settlement
