GNA Minister of Transport Announces Re-opening of Mi'tiga Inter.

Tripoli, 29 October 2019(Lana) GNA Ministers of Transport and the
Interior, Flanked with the UN Special Envoy to Libya, the Transport
Ministry Undersecretary, the Director of Airports and some aviation
experts have toured Mi'tiga Inter. Airport, to ensure that it was
ready for resumption of flights locally and abroad.
The UN Special Envoy to Libya Ghasan Salama said the measures
taken by the Ministry of Transport and the Airports Authority were
good enough to enable the facility to resume operation.
Salama said 'from the tour that we had inside the airport it was
clear that the airport was a civilian facility overall. The UN will
open a special station at the airport for its diplomats and diplomats
in general and to secure repatriation flights for migrants who chose
to voluntarily return to their homelands.
The GNA Minister of Transport Milad Ma'atoug said at the press
conference, after the airport tour, 'the facility is now open to
aviation and resumption of flights is up to airline companies to
decide when they will resume their flights.
Resumption of flights needs coordination between security
apparatus, ground services and the operating companies.
