Pulbished on:
Tripoli, 23 October 2019(Lana) Amnesty International has
announced that more than 100 civilians have been killed and more than
100,000 displaced by the clashes on the southern and eastern fringes
of the Libyan capital.
In a report it released on Tuesday, Amnesty International said
among the dead and wounded were refugees and detainees, who were
stranded in the war zone, and who became victim of air and artillery
bombardment of civilian structures.
The organisation indicated that civilians continued to be
susceptible to harm and danger, as a result of the fighting involving
different types of weapons, that broke out on the outskirts of the
capital on April 4.
The report said forces on both sides have carried out
indiscriminate attacks, using, in most cases, weapons that are
inaccurate, which caused harm and damage to civilians and property,
the two sides have shown no regard to the International Humanitarian
Law, and which forbids such attacks.
