UNDP and UNICEF: More Than Half Million in Libya in Need of Humanitarian Assistance.

Tripoli, 25 November 2018(Lana) The UN Development Programme and
UNICEF have announced that they were uniting efforts to kick off a
program of recovery, stability and an economic and social
development, to make it easier to access basic services in Libya.
A statement issued by the two UN organisations said the 50
million Euros program funded by the European Union is designed to
offer support to 24 municipalities across the country, to improve
accessibility to health, education, water, sanitation and social
services.
The organisations said they seek to work on national level to
utilize the decision-making process and capacity building with local
partners.
The statement said a total of 570500 were in need of humanitarian
assistance, and that the crisis in Libya has affected 267000 pupils
and 488 schools of which 4 had been destroyed, while migrant children
had no access to education.
The recovery, stability, and economic and social development
program, designed by the European Commission and Italy, aims to
improve basic services to the communities in those municipalities.
