President of Presidency Council Vows to Upgrade Marine Fishing Sector.

Tripoli, 12 February 2018(Lana) The President of the Presidency Council of the Government of National Accord Fayez Al Serraj on Sunday met the Head of the Sponge and Fishing Union and several members of the union. The Head and members of the union put forward a number of demands to Al Serraj including improving their work conditions and rehabilitation of fishing harbors as well as training fishers and providing modern fishing equipment. Al Serraj highlighted the importance of the fishing sector and its contribution to the national economy which he said was a source of food security and said he supported the demands of the fishers vowing that the Government would work to upgrade the sector, enhance the conditions of work for the fishers and provide modern techniques. He noted the effort being taken by the GNA to train the Coastal Guard to curb violations of the Libyan territorial waters. =Lana=
