President of the Presidency Council meets with UN Secretary General.

Tripoli, 31.01.2017(Lana) President of the Presidency Council,
Fayez Saraj met Monday with the UN Secretary General, Antonio
Guterres accompanied by the Assistant Secretary General for Political
Affairs.
The meeting was attended by the delegated Foreign Minister,
Mohamed Saila, and the political advisor Taher al Sunni, at the
sideline of the African Summit held in Addis Ababa.
At the outset of the meeting Saraj congratulated for his new post
wishing him success in the light of the magnitude of the challenges
facing him.
The two sides touched the recent important developments in Libya.
In this respect Saraj underlined the need that the UN play more
effective role in support of the Libyan people at both political and
humanitarian levels.
He pointed out that there were no clear political strategy in the
past years, lack of aid and lake of coordination between the UN
missions and the international communities.
Saraj asked the UN mission to adopt a new approach to support
stability of the country and to care for the humanitarian situation
before anything else.
Guterres confirmed full support to the presidency Council and
the government of national accord, being the sole legitimate
government in the country, and his serious endeavour to harness UN
resources to finding a consensus that encompasses all parties and he
would do all possible in support of the Libyans irregrdless of
political polarization, and would continue direct contacts to
coordinate a strategy for the next stage.
