Second phase of training programme of Libyan coast guard kicked off.

Brussels, 31.01.2017(Lana) The European Union announced Monday
the launching of the second phase of the training programme of Libyan
coast guard in line with Sofia Naval Operation to fight ill legal
immigration off the Libyan coast.
A statement by the EU External Relations Representative,
Fredericka Moghrini said the second state of the naval operation
began by enrolling a new batch of 20 members of the Libyan coast
guard at a training centre in the Greek island of Crete.
The trainees would receive training in various fields relevant to
their duties such as human rights, naval rights, and gender equality,
besides sea rescue techniques.
The second phase would continue all this year and would be
conducted in various regions of the Mediterranean in line with Sofia
operation which began in 2015, while the first batch of 78 members
is expected to finalize its training by February.
